This article is going to be about discrimination, unfair rules against African Americans, and what the Civil Rights Act did. Discrimination was a huge battle that African Americans had to go through.
If you didn't know what discrimination is it’s basically bullying a race, gender, or skin color. Most of discrimination in the U.S was in the 1950’s. We cant do much about it because there is discrimination everywhere from Japan to Canada it will never end. What we can do is to not influence others to do it.There is still discrimination till this day. There will always be a person who is against other races or color. African Americans were discriminated the most, they had to go through a lot until good things came.
In the 1950’s discrimination was common. White people always beat up African Americans it the worst possible way. They beated African Americans in restaurants, streets, parks basically anywhere. People couldn't sit in certain seats in the bus. They got bullied in schools often. Most of the time they just left school and sometimes suicide. They didn't have a lot of choices of jobs. When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was finally a bill it changed African American history.
The Civil Rights Act was a break for African Americans. It ended segregation in public places and banned discrimination of race, color, religion, and gender in hotels, court houses, parks, theaters basically everywhere. A percentage of discrimination in America has gone down a lot because of this act. The year after that African Americans could finally vote. The EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission) gave $111 million dollars in benefits to African Americans who filed claims of discrimination. This gave Africans Americans a little bit more confidence to move forwards and progress. This act from the governor changed African Americans socialite with white people.
